Reading Recipes

By Samantha M.
This week we made Thanksgiving No-Bake Cookies after studying about functional texts. We had to follow the instructions and try to make them correctly. I thought it was very fun way to learn how to follow directions.  Then when we were finished, we got to have a tasty snack.

QR Codes and Vocabulary

 By Ryan G.

We used Mini iPads to scan vocabulary words so we could learn them.  I thought that was really fun because we got to move around, review, and used technology all at once! I'm glad Mrs Felts is my teacher.

Archaeologist Speaks and Our Mock Archaeological Dig

The archaeologist was really interesting.  He showed us artifacts like a bowl and arrowheads.  He told us about the Paleo Indians and the Woodland Indians that we had learned about in Alabama History.

The Mock Archaeological Dig was really fun!  We looked at artifacts that we had buried under soil.  We discovered things like a church bell, candy wrappers, toys, and even a handle for a gas pump, like we were archaeologists living 200 years in the future.  I just liked discovering all the different things like a real archaeologist.

"Reader's Theater" by Abby S.

Today we had a reader's theater and we performed a fractured version of the fairy tale "Jack and the Beanstalk".  Mr. Cecil was the giant and he had a magical guitar (like the harp in the original version). Jack stole it and tossed it into the bushes.  Ask your child to tell you more!  It didn't end well for the giant.
